CUARTETANGO MUSIC & DANCE COMPANY


The twice Latin GRAMMY-Award nominated Cuartetango String Quartet a guest bandoneonist, singers and tango dancers, including Leonardo & Olga Suarez Paz, incorporate all expressions of the tango art: music, dance, song and poetry. The company’s dancers who have appeared on Broadway, television and film embody the “fiery steps and the spirit of Buenos Aires,” (Melissa Quintanilha, Wexner Center). The company’s musicians who have appeared from the Teatro Colon Opera House in Buenos Aires to Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, demonstrate the authenticity of Argentine Tango with sophistication and virtuosity. Cuartetango “personifies and embodies the authentic spirit of Tango,” (Latin Grammy, LARAS).


Cuartetango Music & Dance is directed by Leonardo Suarez Paz, a 4th generation tango artist of unparalleled heritage. Leonardo is known for his uncommon talent as a singer, a professional career, which he began at the age of six, as a tango dancer and an artist who possesses a unique spirit  is a virtuoso extraordinaire on the violin (Wynton Marsalis). The star of iconic “TangoX2”, Perfumes de Tango, the Mariano Mores Show where he danced and played and Broadway’s Forever Tango and Tango Argentino, billed by the press as “Tango Royalty” (Erie Times), he shares his direct link with Piazzolla and the masters of the Golden Age with whom he played and danced since a young age.


The company has appeared at the Buenos Aires Tango Festival, the Lincoln Center and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on PBS WHYY, the EMMY-award winning program “Rhythm & Roots,” and live at the Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony. Cuartetango leads the way toward a new expression of Argentina’s rich culture, demonstrating tango as an artistically complex, emotionally moving and daring genre.
